Piso Podang Iban Dayak Borneo Sword originally thought to have come from in Batak in Sumatra, although this one was found in Borneo. In our personal collection for 47 years.
The hilt of this sword is similar to early 15th or 16th Century Indian hilts which was influenced by the Indian Talwar. This sword more than likely found its way into Asia through trade from the middle east more than 100 years ago.
The sheath with this sword would have been added later and made in the more traditional Iban/Dayak style, the hilt is brass with a round pommel. The blade has had some rust but not deeply pitted and the blade has some nicks along the sharp edge, the tip is slightly bent and the wooden sheath split with age. We imagine this sword has been fairly well used.
