Dhokra Bell Metal Tribal Art Vishnu statue – a traditional technique of metal casting found in Orissa, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh in India. Although this form of art work is found mostly in these parts of India, similar types of metal casting have been found in China, Nigeria and Egypt using copper alloys.

The Dhokra bell metal technique is an ancient art dating back to pre-historic times of the Mohenjodaro and Harrappa civilizations. The alloys used in Dhokra bell metal crafts is a mixture of zinc, nickel and brass. These beautiful are created using the lost wax technique also referred to as “cire perdue”.
