A beautiful 18th Century Crowned Alabaster Burmese Shan Buddha Statue with a serene expression, eyes downcast with a gentle smile dressed in the Jambhupati style of a Royal King Buddha. An incised pattern on the body and crown indicate his royal regalia with large pendant earnings, broad band circling the head, lotus petal flanges sit on top of the band with a conical finial decorated with two tiers of lotus flower petals with small flanges on either side of the head.

The Buddha is seen here seated on a single lotus throne, right hand gesture in Bhumisparsa mudra, touching earth or calling earth to witness, depicting the moment of enlightenment when the Buddha called the Earth Goddess to witness his defeat of the demon Mara and his army in their attempt to hinder him from achieving enlightenment.

Still some lacquer remaining. The petals of the lotus on the throne are beautifully carved with careful detail in releif.
