A Burmese Mandalay Standing Buddha Statue with hand gesture in Abhaya Mudra, the mudra of “fear not”, showing the right arm bent with the hand raised to shoulder height, fingers extended upwards, palm facing outward.
The Buddha is wearing a Lacquered reddish brown robe with with glass mosaics decorating the edges of the robe, stone eyes, a row of glass stones decorate the hairline from ear to ear with a row of glass mosaics underneath and a central stone in the centre.
The Abhaya mudra is the gesture of the Buddha Shakyamuni immediately after attaining enlightenment, the open hand symbolizes peace and fearlessness. This mudra is most often seen in standing images of the Buddha.
