A wooden Burmese Mandalay Standing Buddha Statue with a frilled lapel in the Mandalay style, decorated with thayo lacquer floral motifs, inlaid glass mosaics decorate the edges of the robe, a row of coloured mosaics and plain coloured glass pieces and central medallion decorate the forehead, extending down on either side to the top of each ear. The right hand gesture is in Vitarka mudra, the hand raised with the tip of the forefinger and thumb touching each other, the remaining three fingers, slightly bent extended upwards. This mudra symbolizes discussion or gesture of debate, explaining the Buddha’s teachings.
The Buddha is wearing a Lacquered reddish brown robe with with glass mosaics decorating the edges of the robe, stone eyes, a row of glass stones decorate the hairline from ear to ear with a row of glass mosaics underneath and a central stone in the centre.
