Burmese Bronze Late Ava Buddha Statue seated on stepped throne with hand gesture in Bhumisparsa mudra, “Calling earth to witness”, with a childlike roundish sweet face with high arched eyebrows. The coating of black lacquer on this bronze Buddha statue is not commonly seen on Burmese Buddha statues.
The Hair on this statue is emphasized by small peppercorn size elevations, glass mosaics and thayo lacquer with a scrolling pattern decorate the lapel and edges of the monks robe on both the front and the back. Some gilding on the face and on the decoration around the edges of the robe and pedestal.
