Burmese Bronze Arakan Buddha Statue seated on stepped throne with hand gesture in Bhumisparsa mudra, “Calling earth to witness”, with a childlike roundish sweet face with high arched eyebrows. The coating of black lacquer on this bronze Buddha statue is not commonly seen on Burmese Buddha statues, it is seen mostly on the Thai Sukhotai Buddha Statues.
Hair is emphasized by small peppercorn size elevations with a wooden usnisha. Glass mosaics and thayo lacquer decorate the edges of the simple monks robe front and back. Some gilding on the face and on the decoration around the edges of the robe and pedestal.
