18th – 19th Century Burmese Arakan Style Alabaster Crowned Buddha Image with a soft gentle expression, eyes downcast. Some orange coloured lacquer still remaining, seated on a double lotus throne with the hand gesture in bhumisparsa mudra “touching earth”.
This style of Buddha statue is referred to as “Ra-Khine Mu-ni Buddha”. Wearing an unusual five tiered crown with a small pointed finial on top supported by a wide incised band circling the head. Beautifully carved and incised regalia decorate the robe with two medallions shown on the front, one on the back and one on each knee and wide flared shoulder pads indicative of those seen in many Arakan Jambhupati Royal King Buddha Statues.
