A unique and rare pre 16th century or post Pagan Burmese Antique Arakan Wood Buddha Statue wearing a simple monks robe, hand gesture in Bhumisparsa Mudra with painted eyes, seated on a single carved lotus pedestal.
The finial on this Buddha statue may not be the original, a bit on the small side. It appears to us that the base was created with two pieces of wood in which the body of the image and the back piece of the base are one piece and the front piece separate. As can be expected from a piece of this age there are some small cracks on the base and body and some hair knobs have become brittle and fallen of. This statue was most likely gilded at one time now completely worn away.
