Bronze Statue Hindu God Vishnu Under Naga – sheltered by the multi headed Naga known as Shesha the king of all Nagas. Vishnu as one of the main Hindu deities who embody God and is revered as “the preserver of the universe”. Brahma is the creator and Shiva the destroyer. Often Lord Vishnu is seen with more than four arms.
The four arms in this statue are representative of his supernatural powers. In the upper left hand he is holding a conch shell, used as a horn to signal his troop, a discus in the upper right hand and a mace in the lower right hand, the left lower hand shows him holding a lotus flower a symbol of creation and fertility.
Small areas with verdigris, otherwise a very nice patina with great detail.
Age Unknown – not new, sourced in Malaysia, could have been a temple figure
