Rare Shendu Minority Naga Axe Knife with an unusual style, referred to as a Kuki Dao blade, found within the Kuki Tribe originating in the North East region of Assam and Nagaland in India. Like the Nagas the kuki people were head hunters.
Tribal wars drove the Kuki tribe north, and into conflict with the Naga tribes. They were also known as Naked Nagas for their propensity to hunt wearing little or no clothing.
Used either as a weapon or tool by the Naga people of these regions. This Naga axe would more than likely have been carried in a wooden sheath tied around the waste.
This is in original condition as we found out, not cleaned or polished.
