Early 19th Century Burmese Ava Alabaster Buddha Statue seated on high thin waisted double lotus pedestel with hand gesture in Bhumisparsa Mudra. The mudra with the right hand touching the earth and the left palm facing upwards in his lap. This mudra represents the moment of enlightenment under the Bodhi tree when Siddhartha Gautama calls the earth to witness the moment.
Gilding is worn. It is common for old Buddha statues to be re gilded by the monks in the monasteries over their lifetime, this one would have been re gilded some time ago and shows some wear.
