18th Century Burmese Alabaster Seated Buddha Statue from the Shan state of Myanmar. Seated on a double Lotus pedestal – wearing a simple monk’s robe with incised edges around the hem, right hand in bhumispara Mudra, left hand rests in his lap in the gesture of meditation (dyhyana Mudra), with prominent finial on top of a small rounded usnisha.
A bracelet is carved into the wrist above the right hand which is a little unusual for this style of Burmese Shan Buddha statue. This statue was once gilded with a little still remaining. We are assuming that the gilding has been scraped of.
