18th-19th Century Burmese Shan Ava Style Marble Buddha Statue with flange type ears seen on many Ava Buddha Statues, seated on a double lotus pedestal. A large bulbous pointed finial sits on top of a rounded usnisha. This Buddha statue as in this other similar Marble Shan Buddha Statue has been repainted in more recent times possibly by a monk in the monastery.
The Shan Buddha statue is seated in the lotus position with hands in Bhumisparsa mudra referred to as the “Earth touching position” with the right-hand pendant over the right knee and the left-hand palm facing upwards and eyes downcast.
